A LOCAL councillor has said it is “the end of the road” for the Ballymoney to Ballycastle Greenway project, that hoped to link both towns by a public footpath and cycleway, along the old railway track.
Local DUP Councillor Mervyn Storey made his comments in the wake of last Thursday's meeting in Ballymoney Town Hall, where The Chronicle understands, strong opposition was voiced to the project, by farmers.
North Antrim TUV MLA Jim Allister described the project as “not a tenable partition” to “dissect farms,” like that.
However, Sinn Féin MLA Philip McGuigan said the £13m investment would be a significant boost to the local economy, with an estimated £2 to £3 million yearly benefits from visitors.
