IT was the end of an era last January with the untimely passing of Mr Samuel Robert ‘Bo’ McKay of proprietor of Ballymoney Tyres.
Angela and the family have released a short statement, which they would like to share. This statement reads: “Ballymoney Tyres to us as a family was never going to be the same without Bo at the wheel.
“Fifteen years ago Bo started Ballymoney Tyres at John Street in the town. He then expanded his business to the Rodden Foot, An accidental fire in April 2020 saw his tyre business, which he built up from scratch, burn to the ground.
“With sheer determination Bo started fitting tyres the very next day.
“Bo's Ballymoney Tyre journey could not have been achieved without his good staff and the support of his loyal customers across the divide, which we as a family will remain eternally grateful.
“Bo's ambition was to reopen Ballymoney Tyres at the Rodden Foot site, which he owned and to make it bigger and better than before; he installed the latest equipment and technology.
“Almost completed, on 19th of January 2025 this dream ended suddenly with the sheer heartbreak of Bo's untimely passing, a loss to which words can never describe.
“THE TYRE YARD WAS 'BO' THE MAN BEHIND THE BUSINESS
“As we try to move on daily without Bo, we as a family have made the decision to bring the shutters down in his legacy.
“We would like to thank each and every-one of you who supported him throughout his journey with Ballymoney Tyres, a business which he loved and enjoyed.
Bo, your life was a blessing and your memory a treasure, which surely will be missed by all who had the pleasure of meeting you.”
