THE Auld Lammas Fair looks likely to be the latest major event to be cancelled for the second year in succession.
With the 2021 NW200 already among the casualties of the continuing pandemic, councillors will be told tonight (Tuesday, March 16) that uncertainty around restrictions means it remains too risky to even begin planing Ballycastle's flagship festival.
Preparations for the August bank holiday fair usually begin seven to eight months in advance.
Officers are to advise the Leisure and Development Committee that the council would be taking “a financial risk” by starting to plan while there remains no guarantee that government will allow mass gatherings to take place in near future.
